Pakuranga Kindergarten enjoys the support of many parents but one in particular who is a landscape gardener. She has steered recent playground development and called for more seating in keeping with the new log theme. The children’s needs were simpler ‘we want a horse for Cinderella’s carriage’. The obvious solution was to combine both needs in the form of a log horse.

The children worked eagerly to fashion scraps of plywood into a head. The last screws saw a plethora of riders all keen to jump on board Mr Ed.

Where that name comes from is unimportant because, thankfully, there is no need for logic in kindergarten playgrounds when all that is important is that Cinderella gets to the ball.
